The announcement was made on social media, two times, with the same message: resignation. The position of Animal Welfare Guarantor for the Municipality of Cagliari remains vacant. Francesca Alba, a veterinarian appointed in May 2025 to fill the role, along with lawyer Maria Francesca Cogoni, designated as her assistant, have resigned.
"After careful and thoughtful consideration, we have decided to resign. This decision," they write, "after a year of voluntary and unconditional commitment, stems from the growing awareness of the impossibility of operating with adequate tools and shared plans."
This specific sector, so deeply vulnerable and topical, requires a synergistic and ongoing commitment to ensure that the energy invested is truly realized. We will both continue to ensure this commitment, each with our own professional expertise. We thank the municipal administration for the opportunity and for everything they have done. We also express our sincere gratitude to the citizens for their trust, their reports, and their cooperation.
