A turtle in difficulty was found and rescued yesterday morning at Lido San Giovanni by the men of the Alghero Coast Guard who had received a report to the operations room. The caretta caretta turtle, about 60 centimeters long, with an evident fracture of the carapace on the right side, was on the shore, in a state of disorientation. The military personnel on duty from the Maritime District Office of Alghero intervened to recover the marine specimen and provide initial assistance.
Staff from the Capo Caccia Marine Protected Area Park Authority - Isola Piana were also present on site. who collaborated with the military for the recovery of the turtle which was then entrusted to the care of the CRAMA Center (Asinara Marine Animal Recovery Centre) so that "Francesca", thus renamed, can follow a rehabilitation path aimed at returning to sea.
The port commander Biagio Semeraro, meanwhile, reminds all users of the sea of the importance of reporting to the Coast Guard any type of sighting of marine animals of protected species that may be in difficulty, so that the necessary and timely measures can be taken interventions.
