Truck falls from the Sassari-Alghero overpass: the truck driver dies

Dramatic accident on the Sassari-Alghero: a truck fell from the overpass at kilometer 9, at the junction for Bancali.

The Areus air ambulance and a basic ambulance attended the scene. The driver, 65 years old, from Porto Torres, died after 40 minutes of resuscitation attempts: his name was Sandro Ascione.

The firefighters reached the heavy vehicle with another helicopter.

According to findings yet to be confirmed, the truck veered to the right, broke through the guardrail and ended up down the ridge, remaining bent on one side at the bottom of the valley.

Also working on site are the carabinieri, local police and Spresal officers.
