25 thousand euros of undeclared currency were seized at Cagliari-Elmas airport.

The operation was carried out by the ADM officials of the capital on duty at the airport, together with the canine unit of the Guardia di Finanza.

The operators stopped a Venezuelan passenger leaving for Spain. With him he had unsecured cash for 25 thousand euros: in this matter, Legislative Decree No. 195/2008 and subsequent amendments provides for the free circulation of currency within the European Union for amounts up to 10,000 euros, beyond which the traveler is required to present a declaration of value at the office of entry or exit from the national territory.

The lady, on the other hand, said she was carrying 10,000 euros but a more careful check of the hand luggage allowed the officials to find additional currency. The woman availed herself of the right to make the immediate oblation with the payment of a reduced fine, equal to 15% of the amount exceeding the permitted limit of 10,000 euros.
