Traffic chaos is brewing in Sestu due to new construction work to create a pedestrian and cycle path on Via Monserrato, which will connect the city center to the Ateneo neighborhood. The work has been eagerly awaited for years because it will finally allow safe pedestrian and bicycle travel on the road.

Meanwhile, drivers are protesting the extremely long waits, and the issue is also becoming a source of political conflict ahead of the elections, with criticism from the opposition led by Michela Mura and Antonio Manca's civic list Sestu Terra Mia, while Mayor Paola Secci's administration is defending the work.
