To burn some eucalyptus branches they started a vast fire that hit the countryside of Santa Giusta last May 17, also threatening roads and rural buildings.

The fire occurred in the locality of Cuccuru Mannu and covered an area of about 7 hectares, investing agricultural crops and reforestation of eucalyptus trees, as well as threatening houses and roads.

Only the timely intervention of the Marrubiu Forestry patrols, the Gauf Group of the Inspectorate of Oristano and two teams of the Fire Brigade resulted in the worst. The arrival of a helicopter sent from the Fenosu base is also necessary.

After the flames were put out, the investigations began which made it possible to trace the causes of the fire. That is, the negligence and inexperience with which three people had burned the eucalyptus branches in the same morning . In the afternoon, in fact, with the rising temperatures and the strengthening of the wind, the ashes of the burning were reactivated until the flames that spread in the surrounding area developed.

Thus the three people, all from Santa Giusta , were identified and referred to the judicial authorities for culpable fire.
