Three very young bathers experienced moments of fear in the late afternoon yesterday at the beach in the middle of Plagemesu ( Gonnesa ) due to the rough sea.

Some expert swimmers who were on the spot helped them to reach the shore safely, in the meantime the rescue car was triggered and a patrol boat of the Portoscuso Coast Guard was sent.

As the vessel lieutenant Paolo Maria Onori recalls, “in case of rough sea - as it was on Sunday afternoon - it is good not to overestimate one's swimming skills and act with the utmost prudence and responsibility, so as not to endanger oneself and others.

The Coast Guard of Portoscuso was also involved over the weekend in an environmental event on the initiative of the Windsurfing Vela Club aimed at collecting the waste present on the seabed of the city tourist port. The activity was attended, in addition to some members of the same club, by the National Sailors' Association of Italy, the Command of the Coast Guard - with a patrol boat to ensure the safety setting for the divers present - and the medical staff of the Blue Cross of Portoscuso, present with the ambulance.

In two hours, on Saturday, over 100 kilos of waste were recovered: tires, old pots, glass bottles, plastic materials of various kinds (plastic tarpaulins, bottles, buckets and cans), batteries and an iron ladder . Everything, divided by type, was then given to the ecological island.
