Agents Giuseppe Muntoni and Daniele Carrus received the 3rd degree bronze medal from the "Carnegie Foundation for acts of heroism" from the Oristano police chief . The two policemen were the protagonists on January 24, 2021 of an extreme rescue during a road surveillance service.

That day, Muntoni and Carrus were on patrol on State Road 292. At 8.15 am, as they passed over the bridge over the Rio Mar'e Foghe river, in Riola Sardo, they noticed a car on the side of the roadway and, nearby, a woman in evident confusing.

Having secured the viability, the officers attempted to speak to the lady but she had suddenly climbed over the guardrail and jumped into the icy waters of the river . Overwhelmed by the currents of muddy water, the woman struggled to stay afloat, and every time she re-emerged she asked for help. The policemen , who in the meantime had alerted the ambulance and other patrols, had thrown themselves to save her, managing to drag her to the shore and giving her first aid.
