A 42-year-old Roman was denounced by agents of the Cagliari-Elmas Air Border Police for aggravated theft and damage .
The man broke into the case of offers for a non-profit organization at the airport before his return flight.
Security personnel found the broken case in the men's room and on the ground, coins and banknotes for a total of about 1,700 euros.
The Polaria policemen immediately began investigations through the airport video surveillance system , identifying a passenger departing with a Ryanair flight at 1:45 am, destination Rome Ciampino.
After contacting the Rome Talenti Carabinieri Station Command, the agents ascertained that the man, under house arrest, was in Sardinia following the granting of a permit .
The entire sum of money recovered was handed over to the manager of Elmas airport on behalf of the non-profit organization of social utility, victim of the crime.
