The giant of Santu Baltolu got plenty of votes, the tree that placed second in the national competition, the Fir of Briganti (Abetina di Rosello nature reserve, Chieti) received 38 thousand votes. Voting closed last night.

Giant Trees Foundation Onlus, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Forestry Sovereignty, selects the most loved Italian tree every year. The 2023 edition was dedicated to the oldest trees. The winner will be selected to represent Italy for the European Tree of the Year 2024 title . The Santu Baltolu olive tree is approximately 14 meters tall and has a circumference of 1,154 centimetres . The title of Patriarch of nature is not exaggerated, it is between 3000 and 4000 years old.
