There is snow, tourists and hikers too, and the proposals (walks, snowshoeing, food and wine tours) as well.

It is a pity, however, that even this winter - to be framed by snow enthusiasts from all over Sardinia - the Fonni chairlift remains closed, due to lack of testing. A situation that has been dragging on for some time now.

The works on the new plant on the Bruncuspina, financed with 5 million euros by the Region back in 2008, have been 80% completed and the last steps are still missing.

"The situation is not easy: the chairlift is finished and could be tested even before the end of the other works," explains the mayor of Fonni Daniela Falconi . Adding: «We are faced with an atavistic problem in Sardinia, where infrastructures are financed and then there are no funds to start them up because nobody manages them, as they could be economically unprofitable. I know there is a lot of waiting, we too are impatient and can't wait to offer the ski service but the timing does not meet our wishes ».

However, someone is also needed to manage the plant and for this reason Falconi hypothesizes a public tender . So it will be up to the Ministry to give the final go-ahead for testing and, therefore, for the restart.

Hopefully in the 2023-2024 season. And politics too is starting to make new commitments to put an end to the stalemate once and for all.

«In Fonni there is the only chair lift in Sardinia, which unfortunately lacks testing, due to a lack of regional programming. A service, to date, paid exclusively by the Municipality of Fonni», writes the deputy of the Brothers of Italy Salvatore Sasso Deidda on Facebook. "Having these skills too, in the Transport, Post and Telecommunications Commission, we have undertaken to favor all the appropriate actions so that it is the last winter without a tested system ", concludes Deidda, also calling into question the regional councilor for Marco Porcu environment .
