For the Sardinian winemaker Andrea Pala, 2023 is certainly a year to remember. After the success at Vinitaly, with the recognition of the best Vermentino in Italy (for the Cantina Campianatu of Arzachena), among the top 15 overall at a national level, a new milestone arrives. The “Joco” wine from the Marche winery Fontezoppa bears his signature and, according to the prestigious 2024 yearbook “The Best Italian Wines of Luca Maroni”, is the third best white wine in Italy.

Luca Maroni, an esteemed internationally renowned sensorial analyst, assigned it a pleasantness index of 96 points, thus climbing to the third step of the podium of the best white wines in Italy. “ I am very satisfied – confesses Pala, from Gallura and native of Luras – for this recognition because it comes from a real institution at an international level like Luca Maroni. I am happy because even in the creation of a wine from the Marche I have put to good use the experience gained over many years in Sardinia , following those small wineries that represent the heart of the production of a territory. Technique and heart to make the most of a truly exceptional grape variety. Joco, 100% from Pecorino grapes, is appreciated precisely for its floral scents and fruity complex, which make it balanced and persistent."

But the label is giving Pala many other satisfactions: the 2022 vintage has already obtained the silver selection in the 2024 Vinoway competition and 92 points on the Winescritic.com portal. Now, the title of Third Best White Wine in Italy ex aequo crowns a golden moment for the oenologist Pala and for Fontezoppa, today also in the Gambero Rosso Guide as one of the best Italian wineries.
