They are "without flags". But they are also those who caused the milk war to explode in 2019. Now the shepherds are ready for a new battle: on 20 October they will arrive in Cagliari for a great demonstration in defense of their work and their families.

The decision was taken this morning during a crowded assembly in the congress center of Tramatza , on the 131: from this center the main protests of the countryside have started.

The meeting was convened by Nenneddu Sanna and Gianuario Falchi, who had led the disputes over the milk being poured in the streets, flanked by Fabio Pisu, Antonio Doa and Gianluigi Argiolas. Hundreds of breeders responded to the appeal and crowded the hall.

"The resignation of the current regional councilor for agriculture, Gabriella Murgia, was unanimously requested," explains Sanna.

But the claims, which will be poured into a document to be brought to the capital, are extensive. Sardinian agro-pastoral farms are bent under the weight of increases in raw materials, without any intervention by the Region. Furthermore, Sardinia was penalized in the national strategic plan, which governs European disbursements to the sector for the next five years: something like 600 million is missing from the appeal.

Then there is the chapter on the price of milk: it has risen, yes, "but it must be negotiated at the beginning of the agricultural year, not after", says Sanna.

Where will the event take place? It is still to be decided: “We will go where we will find them”, adds the shepherd of Orune. And talk about the politicians.
