Hearing on March 20th before the Sardinian Regional Administrative Court for the case of part-time local health authority vets. Blocking the competition for the hiring of Ares veterinary managers, this is the content of the administrative appeal which aims to "freeze" the process for strengthening the staff of the Animal Health and Hygiene services for production, transformation, marketing, conservation and transport of foods of animal origin and their derivatives.

A group of temporary "historians" from the Sardinian local health authorities turned to the TAR to immediately block the competition. The part-time veterinarians assisted by the Fespa union (Federation of Outpatient Specialists) believe they have the right to a stabilization that they have been waiting for for too many years. These are «veterinary doctors serving on a permanent and part-time basis as Outpatient Specialists at the health authorities of Sardinia». The veterinarians promoting the appeal consider themselves "victims" of a noose contract which, although for an indefinite period, condemns them to a part-time job that began as temporary and has become permanent.

The appeal, we read, describes very physical and tiring work «especially for those veterinarians employed in the animal health branch who, in the last fifteen years - characterized by a substantial hiring freeze and total linear cuts -, have been used and have guaranteed the achievement of very important public health objectives such as, for example, the eradication of African Swine Fever in the entire Sardinia region".

Part time veterinarians are also penalized by the contractual clause that imposes an exclusive relationship with Ares.
