Mahdi Rahimian is a political refugee, the man who was taken from a shelter on the Costa Smeralda at dawn on Friday and transferred to the prison in Sassari.

Rahimian fled Tehran about twenty years ago and has always lived in Holland where he owns a company active in the mobile telephone sector. The entrepreneur, 40 years old, was spending his holidays in a house immersed in the countryside of Arzachena. It was the Digos agents of the Sassari Police Headquarters who executed an order of "provisional arrest for extradition purposes".

Lawyers Alberto Sechi and Danilo Mattana, Rahimian's defenders, met the businessman in prison this morning. The lawyers' comment: "Our client is accused of fraud, but Iran has not provided any information on the ongoing proceedings. Rahimian was arrested in the presence of his wife and children and taken to prison. Why was he never stopped in Holland and instead ended up in prison here?". The procedure started by the Ayatollahs' regime has opened the extradition process, the Court of Appeal of Sassari will deal with the case on Monday with a hearing during which Mahdi Rahimian will be heard
