The epidemiological curve linked to the coronavirus worsens again in Sardinia in the period between 16 and 22 March. The currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 1,592 to 1828, while the increase in new cases is more contained than last week (+ 17.2% compared to 42% seven days ago). It is the Gimbe Foundation that points it out, in its usual report.
On a provincial basis, the highest incidence is in Sassarese with 1,133 per 100 thousand inhabitants (+ 9.5% compared to the previous week), followed by the Oristanese with 1,109 (+ 7.2%). Then the metropolitan city of Cagliari with 831 (+ 13.4%), Southern Sardinia with 684 (+ 18.7%) and Nuorese with 662 where, however, the growth was exponential: + 121.3%.
The beds occupied by Covid patients in the medical area are still above the saturation threshold (20.6%) while the pressure on intensive care is just below the threshold (9.3%).
As for vaccines, the Gimbe Foundation confirms that the percentage of Sardinians who received two doses reaches almost 85% (84.9%), to which add a further 1.6% only with the first dose, while the vaccination coverage rate with the third dose is 84.6% and that with the fourth dose is 3.2% (the Italian average is 6%). Children between 5 and 11 years old who have had the two doses represent 40.8% of the audience, to which add a further 5.4% with just one dose.
