From this morning the emergency-urgency activity in the emergency room of the Santissima Trinità hospital in Cagliari has resumed. There are 15 doctors and 28 nurses on duty in the Is Mirrionis garrison.

"As a hospital dedicated to the assistance of Covid patients - said Mario Nieddu, regional councilor for health, who was visiting today - it has been an indispensable bulwark against the virus for all of central-southern Sardinia since the beginning of the pandemic . The improvement of the epidemiological picture, the reduction of hospital pressure in the last period, with the decrease in the number of hospitalizations, allows the resumption of ordinary activities in all those departments indispensable to guarantee the operation of the emergency room ".

To cope with the emergency, it was necessary to work in concert - especially in recent months - with the leaders of the ASL 8 and the two hospitals in Cagliari.

"The reconversions of the Marino and Santissima Trinità hospitals for assistance to Covid patients - added the commissioner - inevitably had a strong impact on the two emergency rooms of the Brotzu and the Policlinico di Monserrato, which had to manage a load of higher work. To allow the reopening of the emergency-urgency department of the Holy Trinity in the shortest time, we have done everything in our ability, compatibly with the situation on the coronavirus front ".

Now, therefore, the activity resumes "making the most of an already upgraded structure, at a crucial moment for the island, which sees the increase in presences in our territory due to summer tourism".
