The “Strade dello Zafferano di Sardegna DOP 2024” Festival ended today, the event that for three weeks brought the excellence of saffron to the stage in the municipalities of San Gavino Monreale, Villanovafranca and Turri, concluding in the latter town with two intense days of celebration.

"We are extremely satisfied with the success of the Festival that has transformed Turri into a lively center of culture, traditions and flavors", said the Mayor of Turri Martino Picchedda. "The public's response has shown how festivals of this magnitude can not only celebrate the excellence of our territory, but also strengthen the sense of community and belonging. We thank all the volunteers, associations and producers who, with their commitment, have made the success of the event possible. For us, this festival represents not only a moment of celebration, but an opportunity to enhance the identity of our country and its traditions".

On Saturday, the setting up of food and wine and craft stands in Piazza Martiri. Then the extemporaneous painting competition, the taste laboratory and the itinerant music and the gathering of accordionists in the streets of the historic center, which came alive thanks to the itinerant musical performances of Marco, Tea and Bianchina, accompanied by the accordionist Walter Atzori. The day ended with the gathering of accordionists in honor of Nino and Onofrio Casu, which saw musicians gather from all over the island.

Today, the highlight of the event. In addition to the stands and the market exhibition, a fun treasure hunt for the little ones in which saffron was the protagonist. Then the medieval camp and the historical shows, a competition of skill in cleaning the saffron flower, the gastronomic competition "The Dessert allo Zafferano" and lots of music and culture.

The Festival Strade dello Zafferano di Sardegna DOP is supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna, the Department of Culture of the Sardinia Region and coordinated by the Association of Local Authorities for Cultural and Entertainment Activities.
