Him, the escort, the companion. The story, discussed yesterday in court in Sassari, which sees a 31-year-old non-Italian accused of fraud by a 64-year-old man from Sassari, takes shape around the figure of a classic sentimental triangle.

The story: the man gives her "out of goodness", according to the accusation, 120 thousand euros in just two months between February and April 2021. And much of the sum, as he explained yesterday in the assize court, he had given because the woman, who presented herself as a student, was suffering from two tumors and, having to undergo surgery in her country of origin, had to incur expensive expenses.

To the money for the treatment, the alleged victim had added that for the purchase of a car costing 22 thousand euros plus other gifts, until he became convinced, as he said, that something was wrong and cut supplies as well as file a complaint.

His generosity was explained upon specific question from judge Monia Adami, with the fact that "he was in love". A completely different version on the part of the accused, defended by the lawyer Franco Fois, who said how the 64-year-old had immediately known her as an escort, having contacted her on the internet after seeing her profile on a dating site, and that she had never asked him for money or gifts, later claiming that she had not had any cancer but breast lumps.

The 31-year-old also reported how the relationship was interrupted, around July 2021, by the will of the man's partner who, in a clarifying phone call, insulted her.

A defense witness will be heard at the next hearing. The prosecutor was Mario Leo and the civil party lawyer Pietro Diaz.
