At the Policlinico di Monserrato "the situation risks getting out of control." This is the alarm launched by the Fp Cgil of Cagliari, which denounces patients hospitalized in a ward or in a third bed added in rooms approved for two and which urges an urgent confrontation with the hospital management.

With an internal note - reads a press release from the trade union acronym "the deputy health director of the Aou hospitals has ordered that to free the corridors a third bed was added in the rooms with spaces designed for two. A makeshift choice - he explains. CGIL - for which, in the same note, the awareness "of the increased clinical risk resulting from the management of patients in excess of the ordinary capacity of the wards" is not hidden. far higher than the expected beds but the management of the Polyclinic continues to plug the emergency with temporary solutions ", said the secretary of the Fp Cgil Cagliari Nicola Cabras, adding that" although the Covid emergency is not over, we are in a different phase than to the previous months and it is now urgent to reorganize, reopen the departments, restore a condition closer to normality ". "Once again - said the managers of the territorial coordination and Aou Cagliari Josto Zedda and Stefano Capobianco - we must denounce the lack of trade union relations and reiterate the need for an urgent discussion with the management of the Polyclinic, otherwise we will evaluate the actions that we consider most appropriate ".

For his part, the medical director of the University hospital of Cagliari, Ferdinando Coghe, assures: "Patients run no risk at the Polyclinic".

"The risk - continues Coghe - would have been if we had left them in the ward or had closed the hospital refusing admissions. And it is to avoid this that in some cases a third bed was added in the hospital rooms. Among other things. at the moment the situation is returning to total normality ".

It's still. "The CGIL knows perfectly well what has happened recently in the metropolitan area of Cagliari: the only two hospitals open for non-Covid patients were the Polyclinic and the Brotzu, which obviously had to take care of all the hospitalizations. Policlinico did it with a spirit of service to make up for a situation of extreme gravity. The company - concludes Coghe - considers the union an authoritative interlocutor and an important actor and not in opposition to the company, we are therefore in favor of a meeting and open to a fruitful dialogue ".
