After so much care and pampering, "Graziella" will also be free again in a few days. Next Saturday, 6 May, the adult specimen of Caretta caretta recovered in serious health conditions in the sea of Castiadas by the operators of the Marine Protected Area "Capo Carbonara" on 10 September 2022 will be released into the sea.

After the treatments carried out in the clinics of the Duemari Veterinary Clinic in Oristano and a good seven months of maintenance, monitoring and rehabilitation at the Sinis Recovery Center in the seaside village of San Giovanni, but above all after the removal of the nylon line that was inside of the digestive tract, the specimen has recovered all its motor, physiological and behavioral abilities.

So now Graziella is ready to set sail. But not only. As happened in the past for other specimens, this time too it will be possible to understand where the turtle will go once it is in the water. "In agreement with the Regional Coordination of the Environment Department of the Region - the Sinis Recovery Center let us know - the researchers of the National Research Council of Torregrande have installed a satellite device capable of monitoring the position and therefore the movements , the temperature of the water and the behavior in immersion». All important elements for researchers.

The appointment for the release of the turtle is at half past ten near the recovery center, the house with the dome overlooking the seaside village of San Giovanni di Sinis. As always it will be a party, photographed by many enthusiasts and onlookers and by children.
