The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella gives credit to five men and women of Sardinia who "in various ways and often silently, have provided, and still provide, a valuable contribution to the community in this difficult period of pandemic".

Last night, with a ceremony in the auditorium of the Conservatory of Cagliari, the honor of the order of merit of the Italian Republic, together with the plaques of thanks to some young Sardinians who, for results achieved during the year, have contributed to the prestige of the Province of Cagliari and of the whole island.

To officiate the delivery the prefect of Cagliari Gianfranco Tomao, in the presence of the deputy mayor of Cagliari, Giorgio Angius, the regional councilor Quirico Sanna, representing the governor Solinas, and the president of the regional council, Michele Pais.

Cavaliere's honors of merit went to Stefania Serra, "who has been serving in the Special Secretariat of the Prefect of Cagliari since 2015 and who, during the epidemiological emergency period from Covid-19, ensured great commitment and professionalism on a daily basis, operating with extreme accuracy and a deep spirit of service and a strong sense of belonging to the Interior Administration ".

To Salvatore Collu , “who worked as a barber for a long time, for which on November 19th 2012 he obtained the merit of Master of Opera and Experience of Confartigianato”.

To Marco Michele Piazzolla , commander of the San Basilio Carabinieri station, "who participated and conducted investigations that led to the arrest of criminals, earning the appreciation of superiors and local authorities".

To Carlo Spampinato , "who boasts a ten-year career in the Carabinieri, where he achieved excellent results at the service of the institution and the community"

To Manfredo Atzeni , appointed commander "for his long and bright career as an administrative magistrate and who currently holds the position of President of the Regional Tax Commission of Sardinia".

Then the plaques to the young Sardinians who most distinguished themselves in the various fields during 2021, which the prefect Tomao delivered to:

Chiara Obino , multi-award-winning international champion in outdoor freediving, with three world records and 9 Italian records to her credit.

To Samuele Cannas , prodigy student of the University of Pisa and the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, who will soon become the first student in Italy to have 6 university degrees at the age of 25.

To Riccardo Cao and Federico Meloni , doctors and researchers, who have recently published articles that are the result of important studies on Covid-19 in prestigious scientific journals.

And to Matteo Porru , young writer and winner of the Campiello Giovani 2019 award.
