The African anticyclone hits Sardinia and the entire central-western Mediterranean hard. The regional civil protection explains that the phenomenon, with a progressive expansion towards the east, "favors the persistence of high temperatures on the ground in our regions".

From this evening therefore, "and at least until Friday 2 August, maximum temperatures above 37 degrees and locally above 42 are expected in most of Sardinia".

The minimum temperatures, however, will settle almost everywhere around 22 degrees, with local peaks even above 26.

The monitoring by Arpas specialists will continue in the next few hours, when the possible extension of the alert period for adverse weather conditions will be evaluated.

In the following days (from Sunday 4 August) the mistral wind is expected to enter, whose refreshing "power" - or at least mitigating the heat - may not be immediate. On the contrary.
