Terrible head-on collision between Iloghe and Dorgali: one dead and three injured

A tragic road accident occurred this afternoon on the Provincial Road 38, in the stretch between Iloghe and Dorgali not far from Serra and Orrios. Two cars collided head-on in an extremely violent manner, causing the death of a man and the injury of three people.

There were two people on board each vehicle. The driver of a Lancia Ypsilon, a 65-year-old German man, died instantly due to the severity of the impact . His wife, who was traveling alongside him, was extracted by firefighters and taken by ambulance to the hospital in Nuoro. The rescue operations were particularly long and complex: the firefighters of team 2A of the provincial command of Nuoro worked for a long time to free all the people trapped inside the wreckage.

Two helicopter rescue services from Olbia and Alghero intervened on the scene and transported the two injured people from the other car to the hospitals in Nuoro and Sassari . Three ambulances and the Carabinieri of the Siniscola Company were also present, engaged in surveys to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident.

The cause of the accident could be traced back to a reckless overtaking, but investigations will clarify the situation . The Sp 38 is currently closed to traffic to allow for safety operations and technical surveys.
