Tragedy struck this morning on Primo Pettina beach in Platamona , where a 78-year-old man died.

The man, originally from Ossi, fell ill near the former Lido Iride beach and was immediately rescued by emergency personnel, who also arrived by Areus helicopter to take the elderly man to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari. The cause of death was believed to be a heart attack.

Attempts to resuscitate the man were unfortunately unsuccessful. Carabinieri officers from the Porto Torres Company also responded to the scene.
