A 44-year-old from Cagliari was arrested yesterday afternoon for aggravated theft by agents of the State Police of Cagliari , and reported on the loose for the crime of carrying arms or objects capable of offending.

The man had managed to get inside a service station in Viale Marconi , the premises of which had been destroyed months ago by a large fire, but was surprised, while he was intent on opening packs of coffee pods, from the owner who asked for help at 113.

The policemen of the Volanti intervened immediately and found the criminal who had already put a hundred pods in a backpack and the rest in various shopping bags. In all, the man had stolen some 2,600 coffee pods .

From the inspection that followed, the man was also found in possession of a switchblade , hidden in his trouser pocket.

The search extended to the home also made it possible to recover other stolen goods: numerous packs of papers and cigarette filters, packs of batteries, chewing gum and various objects, presumably previously stolen by the same distributor.

The 44-year-old was then arrested for theft and reported.
