A routine check by the Carabinieri of the Sinnai station which ended with a report being filed at large for a 33-year-old mechanic resident in Maracalagonis , considered responsible for applying false license plates to the car.

The discovery was made during a routine road check, when the carabinieri stopped a Volvo V70 with the mechanic and a 25-year-old man on board .

Initially, the check had already revealed that the car was driving without insurance coverage. However, further checks on the license plates and the documentation presented revealed a much more complex picture: the vehicle, now deregistered for export, was equipped with false license plates, manufactured with considerable precision to evade checks .

The Carabinieri then proceeded to search the two occupants, with the young man found in possession of small quantities of hashish and marijuana and therefore reported to the Prefecture of Cagliari as a user of narcotic substances.

The fake license plates were immediately seized and will be deposited in the Office of the Criminal Records of the Court of Cagliari, while the drugs found will be subjected to routine analysis.
