Giovanni is thirty years old, lives in Sinnai and, since he was born, has no alternative to a bed and a wheelchair. And also to diapers, which he has to wear day and night. He suffers from a rare syndrome that denies him any autonomy.
Mother Laura is his guardian angel. She lives for him, day and night. For a few weeks the boy, or rather the entire family, has been experiencing an incredible problem, the result of an obtuse bureaucracy.
He needs his diapers which have always been guaranteed to him by the local health authority: but he continues to have them only because his mother, taking the place of the local health authority, buys them at the pharmacy, waiting for a solution to the problem.
«Since he was born – explains his mother – Giovanni has always used the "Tena". The new company that won the contract, announced by the Local Health Authority for the management of the service, does not provide it: it distributes another one. But Giovanni can't stand it for even a minute: as soon as I put it on him, his skin became irritated, causing serious discomfort. I called the local health authority, they asked me to subject the boy to a dermatological examination to demonstrate this problem. I did it. But the situation has not changed. We are still waiting for the old diaper to be delivered. I contacted the local health authority and the new company: I'm still waiting. In the meantime, obviously I'm taking steps to purchase the Tena product at the pharmacy. This is fine with him: I really can't understand why the new distribution company that won the contract is unable to supply us with the same product as the previous company. We are truly absurd."
