A firm position this evening by the municipal administration of Orgosolo led by mayor Pasquale Mereu, hit in two days by two serious news episodes.

Yesterday, unknown individuals fired shots from a semi-automatic rifle at the cars of ICM workers in Vicenza, who had been working on the Cumbidanovu dam for a week.

This afternoon, however , a 66-year-old forestry worker, Giovanni Antonio Puddu, was hit by a rifle shot in the face.

"It is with disappointment and deep bitterness that we find ourselves facing the latest events that have affected our community," the administration wrote. "The first episode saw the cars of the workers of the Cumbidanovu construction site targeted. A construction site that, after years of interruptions and restarts, seems to have taken the right path to its completion. The other event is even more serious because it affects one of our fellow citizens who was going to work."

Probably, it is the thesis, "the two facts are unrelated but, the almost simultaneity has accentuated the dismay and concern in the people of Orgosolo. As a municipal administration we firmly condemn these actions and their perpetrators, expressing solidarity with the company and all its employees and a wish for a speedy recovery to Banne Puddu. We invite all citizens to condemn, without ifs and buts, these two serious episodes and to reflect, an invitation that we extend especially to those who are parents, on the possession and improper use of weapons by many adolescents in our country".
