Instead of paying for the holiday home she had to rent in San Teodoro, she was duped by the alleged buyers who managed to steal 2,400 euros from her with the “ATM scam”.

The State Police, following the investigations by the Postal Police of Nuoro, denounced five Italians: a 32 year old from Chieti, a 42 year old from Matera, a 36 year old from Foggia, a 45 year old and a 41 year old from Varese.

The victim, a 51-year-old resident in Nuorese, had posted an ad on an e-commerce site in which she proposed the rental of a holiday home in San Teodoro. She was immediately contacted on the phone by one of the suspects who, showing interest in the offer, proposed to immediately make the payment of a deposit.

But, and here's the trick, as long as the woman went to an ATM following all the directions that came by phone without ever interrupting the communication, to receive a quick money order.

But the unfortunate woman, while she was thinking of carrying out an ATM operation in her favor, made five top-ups on the cards of as many scammers.

The investigations, with the collaboration of the banks concerned, made it possible - following the movements of money - to trace the five beneficiaries of the scam, reported in a state of freedom to the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office.
