A splendid story in Settimo San Pietro, a land of wheat, good wine, bread and centenarians. Edmondo Pilleri turned 101 today, a life dedicated to the love of family and fields. This morning the mayor Gigi Puddu went to see him with the tricolor sash handing him a plaque in the name of all the municipal administrators and citizens.

"Last year - said the mayor - it was not possible to celebrate his 100th birthday. Today we made up for it, by visiting Mr. Edmondo Pilleri, born in 1921, who just today on Easter Monday turned 101 years old, spanning two centuries and two millennia. An extraordinary milestone. On behalf of the Municipal Administration and of our entire community, I congratulated Mr. Edmondo and his family for this important milestone. Long life to Edmondo ".

Edmondo Pilleri has been a farmer since he was a boy, he was also captain of the Barracellar Company for many years. At the age of 101 he remembers everything: an iron memory, he loves to dig into the distant past, offering insights into the seventh that was. He remembers the life spent with his wife Anna Musiu, who died a few years ago, the work in the fields made up of sacrifices but also of great satisfaction. The elixir of long life is also all this, says the centenarian, "together with love for the family and for the good Lord".

Edmondo Pilleri has two sons, Francesco and Sandro, who are close to him. Settimo, “town of the centenarians”, has celebrated many in the last ten years.
