Olbia Mayor Settimo Nizzi will be the center-right candidate for president of the Northeast Gallura Province. A rumor that had been circulating for days was officially confirmed this evening with a statement from the coalition party secretaries. Attending the meeting were Pietro Carzedda (Forza Italia), Mario Russu (Brothers of Italy), Franco Anziani (PSD'AZ), Rosella Addis (Sardinia Alliance), Giovanni Antonio Satta (UDC), Fabio Albieri (Sardinia at the Center 2020), Vanni Sanna (Lega), and Alessandro Fiorentino (Sardinian Reformers).

The secretaries, according to the statement, unanimously agreed on the need to nominate the authoritative figure of Olbia Mayor Settimo Nizzi for the presidency of the Province of Gallura North East Sardinia . The provincial secretaries also agreed on the need for representation of the center-right coalition parties within the new Provincial Council, taking into account all territorial needs.

This designation puts a serious strain on the election: the center-right's electoral weight (which, at least by general orientation, represents the vast majority of Gallura's mayors) and Olbia's demographics give Settimo Nizzi a difficult advantage to overcome. The elections, to be held on September 29th, are second-level; the 375 city councilors, with a vote weighted by population, will elect the Provincial Council.
