An 86-year-old pensioner was reported by the Samassi Carabinieri for attempted theft, aggravated threat and possession of weapons capable of causing harm. A knife, to be precise.
The owner of a farm in the Sa Mina area surprised the elderly man intent on picking artichokes without any authorization . When asked for an explanation, the pensioner, not only did not seem sorry, but decided to confront the man by taking out a cutting knife and invited the owner of the land not to interfere with his "picking".
The carabinieri, alerted by the farmer, found the eighty-six-year-old still on site, with a 19-centimeter switchblade carefully kept in his pocket, ready for use .
At the sight of the soldiers, the pensioner tried to minimize the matter, claiming that it was only a small withdrawal for personal use. After having seized the bladed weapon and collected the complaint of the injured party, the carabinieri informed the Judicial Authority, which will now evaluate the incident.
