The title of city has finally arrived, conquered by Selargius after a bureaucratic process that began in May of last year. An initiative promoted by the Prime Minister Tonino Melis and supported by the entire civic assembly of Piazza Cellarium, and then passed through the Ministry of the Interior and the Prefecture of Cagliari.

With a final stop at the Quirinale where the request received the definitive yes from the Head of State . The history and beauty of the territory were decisive, from the archaeological sites to the traditions - first of all the Ancient marriage in chains - up to the peculiarity of the Selargino caper: all requirements cited in the Ministry's report that allowed the seal to be put on the honor awaited for years.

The announcement was made by Mayor Gigi Concu in the City Council . "From today Selargius officially has the title of city", his words followed by thanks to the President of the Republic, the Ministry of the Interior and the Prefect of Cagliari Giuseppe Castaldo who gave him the decree signed by Sergio Mattarella on February 24.

A title "which is attributed to Municipalities notable for memories, historical monuments and for their importance from a historical-cultural, demographic and socio-economic point of view", we read in the document of the Prefect.
