Acquitted "because the fact does not constitute a crime". Thus ended the criminal proceedings resulting from the legal battle between the mayor of Segariu , Andrea Fenu, and the municipal secretary, Liborio Faraci.

The official accused of slander was acquitted today after five years.

The facts date back to December 2016 . At the time Liborio Faraci (defended by the lawyer David Loi Mojtehadi) served at the Prefecture of Cagliari and was commissioned to carry out a period of substitute work at the municipality of Segariu . After a few weeks of work, the secretary was fired and replaced with another colleague.

At that point Faraci denounced the mayor, accusing him of not having been able to carry out his role of surveillance and control of the municipality , of not even having assigned him a room and of not having been able to work for over a week. The town clerk came to hypothesize the interruption of public service . The criminal proceedings started after the complaint ended with a filing also confirmed by the investigating magistrate.

It was the mayor who denounced Faraci for slander . The acquittal sentence arrived today although the prosecutor, Giangiacomo Pilia, had asked for a conviction. In the process both the mayor and the municipality, represented by the lawyers Antonio Avino Murgia and Ezio Ullasci, had joined the civil party.
