Sedilo, moments of fear at the Ardia: parish priest Don Maurizio Demartis falls from his horse.

An accident involving the parish priest of Sedilo threatened to ruin the Ardia celebrations this morning .

Don Maurizio Demartis, 43, was involved in a horseback riding accident shortly after leaving the Sanctuary, while returning to the village.

The procession preceded the race leaders and the other riders, led by the marching band, the riflemen, Mayor Salvatore Pes, and the parish priest himself, both on horseback. At a certain point , Don Maurizio's horse reared and the priest fell to the ground, ending up on a steep section of the route .

He was immediately assisted by paramedics on duty who provided him with first aid. He was diagnosed with facial trauma and a probable sprained right ankle . He was subsequently transported to San Martino Hospital, but his condition is not serious.

A great scare, both for him and for all the other people who witnessed the scene.
