Three mobile phones were found in three days in the Tempio Pausania prison by the Penitentiary Police following a series of searches in the High Security wing, the one where there are, for example, leading members of organized crime.
The latest episode concerns the use of a mobile phone by a prisoner to commit crimes.
"These findings are the result of a series of searches carried out by the Prison Police in the detention sections which demonstrate the great ability of our policemen but expose the serious flaws in the system - explains Michele Cireddu, general secretary of the Uil Pa Penitentiary Police of the Sardinia - In fact, there is a lack of suitable tools for encrypting the signal inside institutions as well as effective means for detecting the signal in the event that cell phones are introduced and used fraudulently».
«The latest invention was used by a prisoner to commit crimes and this, in our opinion, considering the type of prisoners present, represents a clear alarm bell for the Istituto di Tempio that the Superintendent and the Head of the Department they cannot ignore. Just today, the new Head of the Department met with the trade union organizations and we will soon be able to evaluate whether his work towards Sardinia will lead to the interventions we have been waiting for for too long".
Cireddu also underlines that "despite the fact that the Temple staff cannot count on a permanent Director, despite the fact that a part of the policemen undergoes a management that unequivocally compresses individual rights, they have shown that they are on track. Apart from the inadequacy demonstrated by the Administration and the state of abandonment in which the agents are forced to work , it would be important to register at least one management based on equal opportunities”.
