Farce insurance, scam sales, fake brokers . Online scams are multiplying, in the last week alone the Carabinieri of the Orani, Olzai, Dualchi and Bolotana Stations, coordinated by the Ottana Company Command, have reported seven men who defrauded five people .
The scammers' techniques are becoming more and more sophisticated, warn the Carabinieri, who invite citizens to participate in meetings organized with local communities specifically to warn people.
These are the cases of the last week. A fake financial broker promised victims online car insurance at very advantageous prices : once the money was collected, the contract was never signed.
Another criminal, after having created an ad hoc website to advertise swimming pools and various accessories, convinced the victims to pay the money for the purchase and, once he received the transfer, took the site offline. Needless to say, the purchased material was never delivered.
Finally, on other online platforms, car spare parts were advertised and again, once the money was received, the scammers became untraceable .
The Carabinieri, having collected complaints from citizens who did not see the purchase arrive or were pressured by requests for personal data, identified the scammers and blocked the sites, preventing further scams.
The seven scammers were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nuoro and Oristano .
