Staff shortages at the police headquarters in Sassari and in the detached offices . These are the issues discussed yesterday in the capital of Sassari, in the meetings held with the prefect Maria Grazia La Fauci, the police commissioner Filiberto Mastrapasqua, and the representatives of Silp Cgil .

"We are 148 people short of what was expected - declared the secretary of the national Silp Pietro Colapietro with the regional secretary of Silp Cgil Alessandro Cosso - and the situation is particularly critical in the police stations of Olbia, Alghero, Ozieri, Porto Cervo-Arzachena and Tempio Pausania ".

Also present with the Silp representatives were the secretary of the Cgil Sardegna Fausto Durante, the regional secretary of the Cgil Francesca Nurra and the secretary of the Chamber of Labor of Sassari Massimiliano Muretti. The trade association recalled how the province hosts, among other things, highly attractive events, both sporting and political, which require a significant deployment of law enforcement forces. "There is also a generational problem - continues the union - because retirements are not compensated by adequate replacement by the Department of Public Security".

Now the hope is that concrete measures will be implemented to resolve the problems exposed. "We await a concrete response and effective actions from the competent institutions to guarantee the safety of citizens and adequate working conditions for police officers."
