Access to documents and warnings. In Sassari, city councilors and civic committees have taken steps to clarify an alleged case, filed with the Suape office in September, regarding a "pig weaning" operation between the Caniga San Giorgio and Maccia d'Agliastru roads.
Three months ago, the initiative to build a pig farm in the same location had ended after the TAR (Regional Administrative Court) rejected the appeal of the entrepreneurs, Antonio and Andrea Moro.
The brothers opened the business in June 2025, sparking protests from environmental committees and associations. They were forced to close and dismantle the entire facility this year following a decision by the Metropolitan City, which found irregularities in the Maccia d'Agliastru facility.
At the time, there were reports of approximately 2,000 pigs, but the details are still unclear. However, yesterday morning, local health authorities inspected the site to verify the sanitary conditions.
The outcome of the inspection meeting is currently unknown; however, when contacted, the breeders reported their actions as "simple cleanup." Meanwhile, as previously reported, requests for access to the documents relating to the proceedings have been submitted to the Municipality by city councilors Mariano Brianda and Vanni Azzena and the Caniga San Giorgio Committee.
Meanwhile, the civic committee "The Elephant in the Room" has sent two formal notices to the Municipality and the Local Health Authority, essentially requesting that the practice be halted, after having outlined a series of alleged critical issues.
