Sassari, Nurra's cry of alarm: "There is no more water"

Nurra launches yet another cry of alarm in Sassari due to drought.
This morning at Palazzo Ducale, in the 1st commission, the critical context that afflicts citizens and companies was discussed while, as recalled by the president of the council body Stefano Manai , the levels of the Cuga basin have reached 4 million cubic meters from a nominal capacity of 22 million and the entire Nurra water consortium system is assessed with a criticality index equal to 0.9% , a dramatic figure if one considers that the alarm threshold is set at 0.20.
"I am here - says the president of the Municipality of Nurra Alessandro Colombino in the hearing - to bring the problems of families who are experiencing great economic damage".
Furthermore, he underlines, «the water crisis has been a reality for years but as soon as it passes no one takes care of solving the problem». The reservoirs are almost empty, the infrastructures «a sieve» and, adds Colombino, «there is a clash of priorities between tourism and agricultural companies for water». For that white gold which, it seems certain, will decrease over time while the need to access it will increase. «It is probable - intervenes the president of the city council Mario Pingerna - that we will also put artificial intelligence data centers on the island that will need a lot of energy and a lot of water to cool».
Alessandra Corda of Sardegna al centro 20Venti reports «on the many companies in Nurra that have no possibility of drawing on water resources». Then she lists some data that highlight the ongoing drama: «The pipelines have gone from a flow of water of 2500 cubic meters per hour to 700». And she proposes: «We need to free the Cuga from drinking water use in order to be able to receive the wastewater purified in Sassari for irrigation purposes». Mariano Brianda of the Costituente invites us to address the problem with the other municipalities, Giovanni Dessole of the Progressisti underlines that the emergency can only get worse and calls for immediate measures, Francesco Pipia of the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra recommends a more reasoned use of water in crops. The general awareness is that concrete and immediate actions must take place on higher political levels, from the Region to the government.
