On the rise poor and homeless in Sassari. A worrying phenomenon, also confirmed by the lines that are formed daily at Caritas and in other voluntary associations or religious institutes.

"The homeless or homeless are now concentrating in via Padre Zirano, at the bus stop - explains Asia, 57, of the Alliance of Guardian Angels association, which reopened its doors a few months ago -. Unfortunately, many young people marginalized, to whom we try to give comfort and basic necessities, which provide us with supermarkets and shops for free ".

The problems aren't just in this age group. "There are also many lonely and destitute elderly people who do not turn to social workers". And they are different to live under the stairs.

"Last night we provided food to a foreigner who has been sleeping for some time in a basement in via XXV aprile. But he is not the only one in the city in these conditions", explains Asia, who adds: "The pandemic has obviously exacerbated this situation of social hardship. . We try to collaborate with the institutions, but we would also need other volunteers, to cope optimally with all needs. The situation in Sassari is really difficult and we must not neglect the seriousness of the inconveniences that unfortunately suffer from a range of population, which is increasingly in need of clothing and food ".
