He was accused of placing a firecracker in front of the entrance door of a house in Alghero in 2020.
He, a 32-year-old from Sassari, according to the charges, had broken the glass and smashed the metal panels of the door with that homemade device. A witness, who was nearby at the time of the explosion, thought he recognized the defendant as he fled from the scene of the explosion.
Drawing up an identikit that led to the identification of the 32-year-old, to the complaint and to the proceedings that ended yesterday in court in Sassari, with the acquittal for not having committed the crime. Because during the abbreviated trial conditioned on the production of documents and the hearing of a witness, as requested by defense attorney Gianfranco Oppes, it emerged that the physiognomic characteristics reported did not match either in terms of height or hair. As well as for the license plate of the car glimpsed by the witness in addition to the fact that the accused, during the contested episode, happened to be in the Catalan city and that the next day he had to leave Sardinia for work reasons.
In the end, the preliminary hearing judge Sergio De Luca ordered, as mentioned, the acquittal for not having committed the crime.
