Drama of loneliness in Sassari. A 67-year-old man was found dead today in his home in Corso Margherita di Savoia where he lived in conditions of extreme poverty.

"As soon as I got back from the holidays," says Sergio Faedda , owner of Soluzioni creative, a shop under the deceased man's house, " I got worried because he wasn't answering and I hadn't seen him for a few days."

Faedda alerted the Carabinieri and 118, who arrived together with the firefighters. Once the rescuers entered, they found the man lying on the ground and lifeless. There were no signs of violence and it would seem that the death, which perhaps occurred a few days ago, was due to natural causes.

"I spoke with him several times. He had no one in the world, and lived in total solitude." It is not the first case of "forgotten" people dying without anyone close to them. "More attention and humanity would be needed," concludes Sergio Faedda.
