Sartiglia, helmets already in stock while the controversy rages

While the guilds are unanimously opposing the use of helmets and protective vests to safeguard the Sartiglia's centuries-old tradition and identity, the Oristano Foundation has already made an organizational decision. While awaiting the implementation of the Abodi decree, the organization has purchased 120 protective devices, for a total cost of approximately 18,000 euros.

The guilds' opposition remains clear and shared , but above all, it underpins a decision the Foundation calls prudential. "We've been discussing the new provisions for some time. The possibility of using protective measures also raised other issues, including additional costs for the knights," explains President Carlo Cuccu. "We also share the belief that tradition must be protected, but we felt it was appropriate to take precautions and be prepared for any eventuality."

Purchasing the equipment doesn't mean you've made a final decision about whether to use it on the track. Furthermore, helmets and back protectors are considered an investment: "They could also be used on other occasions or rented," Cuccu explains, emphasizing that the choice was dictated by the need to be prepared for any regulatory requirements.

The debate remains open, but the atmosphere is increasingly heated as the countdown to the meeting on Via Duomo reaches 29 days.
