About twenty garbage bags overflowing with all kinds of dangerous materials, a real illegal dump that led the Forestry Corps agents to report for waste abandonment a hauler from Pula who had removed the rubble produced by the renovation work of a B&B in Perd'e Sali.

He abandoned the waste in an area of Sant'Anna and Su gattu aresti, in the Sarroch countryside , but some documents found inside the bags led the Pula rangers to trace the waste back to the owner of a local accommodation facility and, consequently, to the small transporter responsible for disposing of all types of waste.

Nailed by the evidence he scattered, the man will have to pay a fine of 2500 euros : after having cleaned up the two areas, he saw the criminal complaint removed. The abandonment of waste by cellar-emptyers or small improvised transporters is a problem that the Municipality is forced to deal with every day.

"Our Barracellar company has set up a special patrol service to identify illegal dumps - explains the Environment Councilor, Luca Tolu -, tired of finding all kinds of waste in the countryside, we have decided to counterattack and prosecute - thanks to the help of the Forestry Corps - those who persist in defacing the territory. In the last month, two people have been reported for abandoning waste: if the person responsible for the last episode has nevertheless cleaned up the two polluted areas, the citizen of Sarroch who had thrown away old furniture and other waste has not done so, he will therefore go to trial and will have to pay a fine of 10 thousand euros" .

Alessio Girau, commander of the Sarroch barracellare company, highlights the effort made to prevent the proliferation of improvised landfills in the countryside: «With Devizia, the Environment Office and the Forestry Corps we are constantly working to stem this phenomenon, it often happens that those who abandon waste are not registered and therefore cannot deliver the materials to the municipal eco-centre or have them collected from their home». The mayor, Angelo Dessì, invites citizens and productive activities to be wary of those who improvise by collecting all types of waste from their homes without having the right to do so: «It is always necessary to ask ourselves where the unwanted material entrusted to these people ends up , to prevent waste from being disposed of illegally, you must always ask for a receipt of the delivery to authorised places».
