The shepherds of Sardinia are in crisis. "We are aware of this, they are the weak link in the chain in the face of an out-of-control increase in the costs of raw materials and energy, but we cannot blame this council, let alone President Solinas, for an international crisis that it has distant origins and has repercussions in every corner of the planet ”.

The position is taken by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia, who speaks on the eve of the meeting of the Productive Activities Commission to which trade associations are also invited.

The exponent of the junta underlines that the Region "cares about the problems of the agro-pastoral system, and this is also demonstrated by the huge resources put in place since the beginning of the year: over 60 million euros, 22 million and 500 thousand euros of which only for the sheep and goat sector, to support our breeders and shepherds ".

Murgia is keen to make some clarifications on the controversies related to the CAP funds (Common Agricultural Policy): the world of the countryside complains about a reduction for the island. “With the new financial division of the five-year period 2023-2027, the national strategic plan drawn up by the national government has made a subdivision by introducing some objective parameters that take into account the different territorial realities. About 820 million euros have been allocated to Sardinia " , he adds, a greater budget than the amount initially foreseen. However, it would not be correct to compare the data of a seven-year period (2014-2020) with those of a five-year period, that is the new 2023 programming -2027, which arrives after the two-year period of the transitional phase 2021-2022 ".

By comparing the seven-year period 2014-2020 and the seven-year period 2021-2027 (the transitional two-year period 2021-2022 and the five-year period of the new programming 2023-2027), these data are obtained: for the seven-year period 2014-2020, the Region of Sardinia was assigned 1,291. 510,416 euros while for the seven-year period 2021-2027 the total amount amounts to 1,257,275,675 euros, a difference of about 34 million euros, against an overall reduction of the EAFRD funds at European and national level which therefore affects all Regions.
