In Sardinia, a “hellish” Sunday. Dozens of fires broke out in just a few hours on June 15 , putting firefighting teams to the test in various locations on the island.

The Forestry Corps bulletin recorded 20, three of which were particularly difficult, with the intervention of aircraft in support of the Forestry Corps and Gauf operators, barracelli, Forestas, firefighters and volunteers.

The Fire Brigade instead reports about forty interventions. «Specifically – explains a note from 115 -   there are 24 interventions by the Cagliari Command, 11 interventions by the Sassari Command, 1 intervention by the Nuoro Command, 4 interventions by the Oristano Command".

Vast fires have burned hectares of land in Barumini ( READ ) and also between Furtei, Guasila and Segariu ( READ ), threatening crops and farms and where animals have been removed from some farms as a precaution. Right in Guasila, in the Monte Sebera area, the flames – explains the Forestry Corps – «despite the dispatch of two Canadairs ordered by the DOS of the CFVA, have covered an area of about 200 hectares of Mediterranean scrub . The extinguishing operations by aircraft and ground personnel are made difficult by the presence of strong gusts of mistral wind and numerous jumps of fire».

Again, flames also in the Sassari area ( READ ), in particular in Bonorva , where the Canadair intervened, in addition to the Drago helicopter of the Fire Brigade, in collaboration with the teams deployed by the Region.
Alarm also in Mores , where the Municipal Operations Centre was activated, with the arrival of a guard official from the 115 command of Sassari to coordinate the fire brigade teams coming from the Sassari Command, from Abbasanta and Macomer.

The weather forecast is also worrying: high temperatures are also expected for Monday, with the Civil Protection having issued an orange alert, with heat peaks expected especially in the eastern and southern sectors of the island.
