Sardinia, fires raging from north to south: a hellish day on the fire front

It was a hellish day on the fire front in Sardinia, with three large blazes requiring massive firefighting efforts . The flames broke out this afternoon in the Carbonia countryside, in the "R. Casas " area, where a thick column of smoke rose. The Forestry Corps responded to the scene, carrying out firefighting operations with the support of a helicopter from the Iglesias operations base and the SuperPuma from the Fensu base. The intervention is coordinated by the DOS of the Carbonia Forestry Station, supported by a team of volunteers from Villamassargia.

A second fire front has developed in Fonni, in the Pratobello area . The Forestry Corps also intervened here, with the support of three helicopters from the operating bases of Sorgono, Farcana, and Alà dei Sardi . The extinguishing operations are coordinated by the DOS of the Gavoi Forestry Station , with the support of the Orgosolo Forestry Station, two teams from the Forestas Agency, and a team from the Barracelli.

Flames are also burning in Elmas , in the Sa Traia area, where firefighters are responding with a helicopter from the Pula base and a SuperPuma. The Uta Forestry Station's DOS (Special Operations Unit) is coordinating the extinguishing operations, assisted by the GAUF (Gauf) and volunteer teams from Assemini.
