Back to school with a sting, also in Sardinia . With price increases of up to 12% compared to 2022 for diaries, cases, backpacks and notebooks and with an expense for returning to school for each student which could even touch 1000 euros .
This was stated by Adiconsum Sardegna , whose price lists in hand speak of a compulsory expense for school which this year appears "increasingly a drain" , above all if families with lower incomes are the ones to reckon with the purchases.
«For diaries, cases, backpacks, notebooks and all school-related material - explains the president of Adiconsum, Giorgio Vargiu - there are increases in prices between +10% and +12% on 2022 , thanks to the increases in raw materials (paper , plastics, fabrics, etc.) and inflation is still high. For textbooks, the average price increases this year should be around +4% , aggravating the expenditure of families with children, despite the useless expenditure ceilings set by the ministry which schools systematically exceed every year».
Branded products, i.e. the latest product models placed on the market with the brand of football teams, influencers, cartoon characters, are more subject to price increases. For some designer backpacks the prices can even exceed 200 euros.
TIPS – How, then, to make wise choices? «The first piece of advice to give – explains Vargiu – is not to chase the fashions of the moment , and to choose quality backpacks and cases regardless of the brand and which can be used for several years, without necessarily renewing the kit every September». And then pay attention to offers and promotions , «the important thing is to draw up a list of really useful products, postponing non-essential purchases to other times of the year», Vargiu points out.
To save on books, it is always advisable to resort to used books, taking advantage of flea markets or websites that put students in contact, «or buy e-books, the price of which is lower than the paper edition of school textbooks. With prudent and intelligent spending, it is possible to save 30% to 40% for all school supplies for the whole year», the conclusion.
